With the whole learning the language thing, I try to do what he said, but then people think I’m fluent or soemthing. and I’m not. So I end up saying “yes” to things that I don’t necessarily agree with.

i would add “when having a conversation with someone else, please try to avoid the constant – and unnecessary – repetition of the word ‘like’” and “please speak a little less”. Have you ever been in a conversation with someone that spoke rapid-fire-machine-gun for minutes in a row? It makes one tired.

All your travel trips are so true. That happened to me. I noticed they liked me more if I tried to speak their language. In Cyprus, I was so imbarrassed. The locals just kept staring in disbelief at this drunk English man, size of a giant, at least 6′5″, Jumping up and down on the old floor, trying to dance greek.
